The Coalition On Temporary Shelter (COTS) has teamed up with Tiger’s Outfielder Curtis Granderson to make viewing the spectacular International Freedom Festival fireworks display an unforgettable experience. The guests will be treated to a front row fireworks seat, pampered with food, drink, entertainment and even hand rolled cigars in the authentic Cuban style. COME JOIN THE FUN!!! Bal Africain honors Ghanian King and focuses on African Legacy: Art & Culture. African Legacy: Art & Culture is the theme for the 44th Annual Bal Africain. His Majesty, Nene Sakite, King of Manya Krobo, Ghana, will be honored by the DIA and Friends of African and African American Art (FAAAA). WDIV-TV 4’s Rhonda Walker will serve as mistress of ceremonies. Bal Africain has become one of Metro Detroit’s premiere fundraising initiatives, yet at its core it remains a one-of-a-kind evening of art, fine dining and dancing. Revenue generated from Bal Africain is used by the FAAAA to sponsor lectures, fund educational programs, and to acquire works of arts for the DIA’s African and African American collections. The event will be Hosted by: Spudd Hot 102.7 and Moderated by: Denise Crittendon Editor of the African American Magazine. Special Guest Speakers include: City Councilman Kwame Kenyatta, Minister Dawud Muhammad, Minister Malik Shabazz, Rev. DeDe Coleman and Malik Yakini.
